Origin - Germany
Style - Technical Death Metal
" This is the second album by German technical death metal quartet Obscura.By pedigree alone (two former members of Necrophagist and an ex-member of Pestilence), this particular lineup had some pretty high stakes set, and guest spots by Tymon Kruidenier (Cynic) and Ron Jarzombek (Blotted Science) only add to the anticipation......"
" As Pestilence and Death did in the past, Obscura is forcing progressive (death) metal to new boundaries in 2009. The problem with most albums in this genre is...Not getting trapped in the perfect sound syndrome...And they did not!.. Obscura left plenty of balls and brutality in the tracks...so not only the technical freaks can enjoy ‘Cosmogenesis’ "
" If you love ridiculously tight Atheist-style riffing, melodic sweep-picking solos, fusion breakdowns and fretless bassists that refuse to settle for a supporting role...Then you have come to the right place friends ! "
This band not only shows their technical skills, they also prove they can write great melodies and songs that are palatable..not only for the tech Fan.....
Progressive/Tech/Death Metal Fan's: I have a feeling this will be one of the top albums of 2009...When All Is Said And Done !
Perfection Is A Place !......Find It!
Thanks a lot for this album. Cheers!!!
ReplyDeleteThe best of 2009!
ReplyDeletenot even close to the best of 2009. this band rips off of every tech death metal band. not one ounce of originality on this. the bass playing is the only positive. all the riffs sound like warm ups. vocals are meh. i think ill go listen to some Gorod
