Spearhead: ...a force that leads an attack. the leading forces in a military thrust...

" Founded in 2003, Spearhead recorded their debut full-length 'Deathless Steel Command' in mid-2005..An ok but under-produced record of mostly black metal origin. After a ep in 06 they found themselves at the mighty Hertz Studios(Vader,Decapitated etc) to record their new album 'Decrowning the Irenarch' "

" When a band takes a step forward like this always blows my mind...Because this is masterful,
bombastic, militant Blackened Death Metal  based on the philosophy and metaphysics of war. With tight musicianship, memorable song-writing, sophisticated lyrics/concepts and a state of the art production. This is an album of epic proportions, and superior Black/Death Metal mastery"

" This Lp kills from start to finish...Rarely letting up along the way....Fans of Angelcorpse Take special notice....But anyone into fast....Crushing Death Metal.....Get This at all costs ! "

" Well it seems that Overoth is getting some big hype with their new full-length....And not for no reason....They play sledgehammer heavy Death Metal with catchy riffs and cool solo's "

" They have followed the true course of history..With a demo first..Then an Ep..Then the full length. This is the Ep here...And while not as well produced as the new one...It still reigns supreme in the old style meets new Death Metal scene. Think Bolt Thrower meets any number of Swedish acts "

These guys get it right...Straight ahead riffing, Short songs, powerfull growls,Psychedelic solo's....It aint original....But its damn tasty !

" The Swedes Subcyde has been around as a band since 1997, and why this is their first full length album, I can only be guessing about, because they sure have something to offer in the aggressive end of the thrash scene "

" Musical comparisons to early Testament, Machine Head, Sepultura and even Pantera can easily be made, and I think it overall holds the level of the mentioned bands. So this is more old school type of thrash, but also with a groovy edge on the riffing part. That doesn’t mean that it’s worn out or gets boring stylistically..."

" Classic Death Metal name for a band that comes with a classic Death Metal logo and a more than kick-ass cover artwork. I was damn sure that "From Hate Incarnated" is a brutal Death Metal album right from the start. The butchers did not disappoint me and deliver an album full of pure Death Metal holocaust "

" "From Hate Incarnated" is an album that will rip the listener with some ass kicking guitar work (these two guitarists surely know how to shred like Death Metal maniacs) and an incredible rhythm section. SPECTRAL MORTUARY have obviously been influenced by the US Death Metal scene, and mostly by great acts like Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation and I can say that they also reminded me slightly of the Polish titans Decapitated. The band is mostly based on its catchy riffing and great technique..But with some needed groove in there also "

" Swedish Deathmetal bands have always been in the top of the old-school Deathmetal scene. Bans like Dismember, Entombed and Unleashed are supposed to be known by any self-respecting Deathmetal fan. Although many mouths whisper that the old-school Deathmetal scene is being taken over by the youngsters with their experimental forms of Deathmetal, it has constantly been proven that the old-school underground Deathmetal scene is alive, kicking and growing. Nominon, who are also from Sweden, are one of those living examples. Dating since the beginning of the 90’s, Nominon has been paving the road for almost two decades now..."

Origin - Germany

" I have always had a soft spot for German Thrash metal dudes Tankard. They stood for everything that most of their fellow Europeans thought Germans were like. Of course they always had their collective tongues firmly in cheek and served up their music with a very healthy dose of humor. What they also had was a very dry liver and the band made sure whenever a photo opportunity was around the corner, they held cigars, naked chicks & a wide variety of booze close at hand. And that for the last 25 years, no less! "

" Which is the very reason for this collection of best known songs from this crazy bunch. The beer bellies on a couple of legs (aka the band members) had to do it with a twist of course, so in a random studio they went and re-recorded all the songs in this package . But the sound is of course, with modern technology an’all, a lot better... so the sound has definitely improved in a spectacular way "

" All well-known sing-a-longs are proudly present so this platter offers a genuine trip down all the subtle & classic pieces of Beer genius we all came to know & love of Tankard: “(Empty) Tankard”, “Chemical Invasion”, “Beermuda” & even a medley consisting of “Alcohol”, “Puke”, “Mon Cheri” & “Wonderful Life”.Thanks to Tankard I'm once again convinced that there still are certainties in life…Beer...More Beer....Well?......Fuck It!......BEER !

" So, what we've got here is Weakside's 9 song (plus intro) debut full length...In direct comparison to Fearer the music of Weakaside is a lot more catchy and less blasting, yet still totally rooted in brutal Death Metal the oldschool way. Bolt Thrower -esque heaviness and grooves go hand in hand with a doublebass driven ("Leprosy"-era) Death type, simple songwriting, while lots of killer riffs and deep growled vocals in the vein of Kam Lee (Massacre) "

Origin - Switzerland

Style - Death Metal

" Produced by Andy Classen, death metal producer extraordinaire, “Premier Killing League” is a fucking death metal monster, boasting an exceptionally heavy, thick production, even more so than that of “Government Denies Knowledge”, on top of layers of thick riffs, excellent tempo variations, and a thick, prominent bass. In short, this is death metal in the vein of Bolt Thrower and Blood Red Throne at its absolute finest with no fillers whatsoever. In addition, the dual vocals of the deep seated growl combined with the Mitch Harris-style backing screeches once again work extremely well on “Premier Killing League”. Throw in politically-charged, war torn lyrical content, and you have such an effective barnstormer of an album "

" This may not be completely original....Fuck it who cares!....Requiem have enough firepower to pierce through the armour of scepticism donned by today's pure death metal fans, and going by their usually combustible nature, easily blow them up along with their house out of excitement. Premier Killing League is a smashing death metal album with substance and lasting power "

" Having seen the classic Canadian band Voivod many times...I wondered if there would ever be a band that had that same vibe,technique...out there approach "

" Low and behold.. Myopia has got what Im looking for....The major influence is obviously Voivod, although I would say that Myopia's music is more technical and overtly progressive than anything Voivod ever did. Occasionally a bit of Meshuggah's stoccatto-style riffing also appears. They inject a lot of challenging and obscure chords into their riffs. There are probably a lot of other progressive influences in there that I can't quite pinpoint. This record has nothing to do with the typical Death Metal scene in poland...instead a very challenging listen that will take you a few listens to get into......But it is worth it !!

7. The Mourners Plain

Origin - Finland

Genre - Doom/Death Metal

" As a doom fan it is a true pleasure to listen to 'Inherit The Eden'. The music is fluent, relaxing and melodious, but on the other hand surprises with brutal eruptions and raucous vocals. Ari Nieminen has a gruff growl/grunt sometimes passing into a scream-like timbre. It perfectly fits the music of Hanging Garden. These are long songs, mostly rather slow, but injected with necessary accelerations to keep it engrossing. Keyboards are important as soaring, atmospheric factor and together with the melodic, meandering guitars, they give the music an ethereal beauty. 'Ethereal Passing' and 'Stillborn' are two shorter instrumental songs that are very beautiful and calm. The compositions are graced with acoustic interludes on guitars"

" The album is one huge doom manifest, a bit along the lines of their fellow countrymen Swallow The Sun, although there are no clean vocals here. It is preferable to listen to it as a whole, but if I have to pick out one song, I go for 'Shards Of Life' that combines surprisingly up tempo gothic guitars with chopping riffs, slower passages and a fast and furious outburst including a ferocious scream. This album has the saturnine beauty of Finnish nature and is highly recommended to all aficionados of melodic doom/death metal"

Origin - Sweden
Genre - Melodic Death Metal

" “Infamy and the Breed” is the Swedish quartet’s debut album....They are best described as Swedish death metal, not a million miles from Hypocrisy, but a bit more bouncy (think Catch 22 rather than The Arrival) and with definite overtones of a more symphonic style (a tinge of Dimmu Borgir). These youngsters can handle their instruments quite capably and proceed to blast thru 12 songs of catchy MDM. The guitars are deeper and filthier than your average melodic death metal act, with a production that is heavy and full "

" Vocalist Simon Berglund sounds alot like peter of hypocrisy....high pitched screams and some spoken word parts. Most of the time the keyboards work, with a few hiccups along the way. There is massive potential here; where many such albums can sound one dimensional, Zonaria make each track on Infamy... stand out.....That is a good sign... and bodes well for them in the future "
