Origin - Netherlands & Finland
Style - Death/Doom Metal

" Here we have another badass 7" from the killer label Doomentia Records...Featuring two of my personal favorite bands with exclusive new tracks "

" First off is Asphyx...Let me tell you when I hear Martin's voice on this it is just awesome..No other voice like his in Metal today...Pure Agony ! As far as the track?....Pure crushing Death/Doom at its finest !.....Catchy...Memorable...And produced by Dan Swano.....Its only a single track(Fuck)But its killer "

" Secondly is Hooded Menace from Joensuu,Finland...And surely one of the best bands of this genre. Lasse Pyykko has a knack for writing doomy but melodic songs that are both heavy and memorable and this one is no different....Actually this song is fucken killer with a melodicness to it that just kills me everytime ! "

2. Operation Z
3. The Mukden Incident
4. Strategy Of Attrition
5. Full Scale War
6. Guadalcanal
7. On Choral Shores
8. Unsung Heroes
9. Tokyo Napalm Holocaust
10. Kamikaze
11. To Bear The Unbearable

Origin - Netherlands
Style - Death Metal

" Well......Here we have the 2nd full-length from the war mongers Hail Of Bullets....Featuring...Ahh fuck it..You know who's in this band...On to the album ! "

" Last time the album was placed in the war at the eastern front in germany....This time the war in the pacific..And the threat of the Japanese empire expanding..only to be crushed in the end.
Now a band with this pedigree and the production by Mr. Dan Swano has to be great right?...Oh hell yes !!.....You just cannot teach this sort of power and unstoppable force that is H.O.B. "

" If Blood & Guts Death Metal played by top musicians and raw vocals is your thing....Just buy this when it comes out....Period. For one thing...You cannot get a more crushing and crisp production than that of 'On Divine Winds" absolutely devastating. Goddamn catchy riff after riff and the notorious vocals of one Martin Van Drunen. One thing missing from most of the new Death Metal releases is a groove or memorable riff....Here you have plenty...Take the fantastic 'The Mukden Incident' or 'On Choral Shores' with its doomy atmosphere "

" I remembered more about this record after one spin than I have about the last 50 Lps combined !.......The best album I have heard this year !

If you miss Bolt Thrower's type of pounding Death Metal......Hail Of Bullets is here to take the war to you !......Believe it !

Raw !.......Barbaric !.......Essential !

Massive Assault - Dystopian Prophecies (2009)

1. Forever War
2. Come With Me
3. World Destruction
4. Weigh Up
5. Man-Kind!?
6. O.S.D.M.
7. Swallow My Venom
8. The Rival Believer
9. Dystopian Prophecies

Origin - Netherlands
Style - Death Metal

" Debut full length from this Dutch powerhouse"

" Stylistically Massive Assault are still knee-deep into early Nineties Swedish death metal, with pioneers like Entombed, Dismember but also Dutch bands like Asphyx having left an impact on their sound. Apart from the slightly longer title track which concludes the CD, we get a constant onslaught of death metal pieces that run between three and four minutes "

" Massive Assault don’t like to complicate things, preferring instead to play things the hard and rough way. Switching skilfully between mid-tempo grooves and faster old school riffing, Dystopian Prophecies manages to entertain from beginning to end, but honestly, you won’t find any original ideas on this record "

See you in the grave fuckers.......

Judgement Day - Pathology Of Crowding - Demo (1994)

1. Pathology Of Crowding
2. Penitential Sermon
3. Clouds Of Mordor
4. Daily Rituals... Until
5. F.O.D. (Slaughter cover)

Origin - Netherlands
Style - Death/Thrash Metal

" 3rd demo from the crew from Gelderland,Holland "

" Underrated would be the word that describes Judgement Day....They just ever got the press that alot of other inferior acts got in the early to mid 90s.This demo brings more Death than thrash..But the thrash elements are still there..As in up-tempo beats and some blasting...But its the guitars that made this tape kill "

" "Clouds of Mordor"and the titletrack, are really like a kick in the face. Judgement day play at times at the speed of some newer Thrash metal bands, but still I would call them old style death metal. It's like if you take a few parts from Sadus, Kreator... and put in some really fast and angry Death Metal, then you get judgement day "

A band all you Death/Thrash fans should check out !......Great shit......

Creepmime - Chiaroscuro (1995)

1. The Colour Still Unwinds
2. Scarlet Man
3. In The Flesh
4. Clarity
5. Diced
6. Chiaroscuro
7. Black Widower
8. Fools Paradise
9. King of Misrule
10. God's Thoughts

Origin - Netherlands
Style - Death Metal

" After nailing down a great doom/death opus with their debut full-length, these talented Dutchmen decided to try other fields, and here comes "Chiaroscuro"with its sophisticated technical thrash/death, mostly following the style established with the last two Coroner albums...'Mental Vortex' & 'Grin'(tho not as annoying)"

" There is nothing too fast and brutal here, and their doom metal roots can clearly be felt on a few moments. The music is mid-tempo, with wonderful surreal guitar play ("Scarlet Man", "The Colour Still Unwinds"), seldom speeding up ("In The Flesh"), without losing its genuine technical edge, even increasing it. "Chiaroscuro", which well deservedly carries the album-title, is a fine mix between the newly-epitomized technical style and their morose doom sound of old"

Sadly....this effort was a very worthy finish of the band's very short career....

Some of the members are now in Cypher and Constant Paranoia....

9. Putrefying Remains
10. Epoch of Denial

Origin - Netherlands
Style - Death Metal

" Sinisters debut full length "

" Consisting of 10 crushing songs (plus an intro and outro with guest performance by producer Alex Krull(Atrocity), who also laid some backing vocals on the title track), the album combined all the finest ingredients to form a brutal masterpiece "

" The music was clearly inspired by Possessed (especially the choppy and thrash-like riffs) but it also featured a lot of other influences, ranging from old-school death metal to grindcore (that’s why contemporary reviewers often called the album a mixture of Suffocation and Vomitory). The true highlight of the LP, however, was Mike van Mastrigt and his extremely deep and brutal growling, which, combined with diabolical lyrics about the occult, turned tracks such as “Putrefying Remains”, “Spiritual Immolation” and “Compulsory Resignation” into instant classics "

Sinister have had a fine career....And this was the start of it all...

13. Erase (live)(Bonus)
14. Goddess In Black (live)(Bonus)

Origin - Netherlands
Style - Death Metal

" Formed in 1989, Dutch band Gorefest managed to carve a niche for themselves in an increasingly overcrowded death metal genre, making their debut on the underground demo scene with two tapes, Tangled In Gore and Horrors In A Retarded Mind. After Mindloss(Classic), they secured a contract with Nuclear Blast Records and released False. Gorefest's material was morbidly metaphysical, and at their best they managed to combine melodic and inventive riffs with an abrasive edge "

" While Gorefest already showed their potential on "Mindloss", they were able to blossom to a magnificently unique band on 2nd album "False".The brutality combined with clever song writing and exquisite musical skills culminated in a true classic album! "

Yes, there is truly nothing negative to say about this absolute classic album, even 17 years after it's release! ......Crushing Death Metal !

04. Poison Fog
05. Drowning in Mud
06. Passiondale
07. No Survivors
08. Behind Enemy Lines
09. Fallen Empires
10. Artifacts of the Great War

Origin - Netherlands
Style - Blackened Death Metal

" 8th full length from these dutch warriors of Metal "

" 'Passiondale' sees God Dethroned delve into the historical battle of Passchendaele...A Epic battle that saw both sides lose nearly a million men in total "

" This band has endured some line-up changes for this record but has pulled through with flying colors ! Musically, Passiondale is heavy as all hell with a lot of melody, a touch of clean singing (very well done I might add) every once in awhile and though the growls are brutally heavy they are also very audible. There is also a lot of tremolo picking, which really gives it that whole Blackened feel to it. "

" People ....This is not your ordinary black/Death metal record all about anti-Religious beliefs.....This is a true historical account of a bloody battle......And the record is the same....Bloody....Fucking.....Great !

A catchy, brutal, interesting and well put together concept album with the savage intensity to match.....

4. Memories of Sadness
5. Substance of Existence
6. Fear
7. Stillborn
8. After Life
9. Rottings
10. Look Inside
11. Ecocided

Origin - Netherlands
Style - Technical Death Metal

" This is P.I.s Debut album on the little known West Virginia Records "

" The best description for this album would be: Death metal in a hybrid style that includes crazy rhythms, such that incomplete rhythmic patterns provide a continuity through our anticipation of the final beat established through contrast of offbeats as necessary, and sounds as a result somewhere between Exhorder and Malevolent creation, with verse riffs that resemble later work from Death.....Did ya get all that? "

" This was the bands most straight forward album..Probably leaning in the Death camp the most. Fairly sterile sounding...Technical...Low emotion Death Metal played with style "

4. The Swing
5. Daemonique
6. Firegate
7. Less Than Zero
8. Murder
9. Nero Dies
10. Hateland
11. Pesticide

Origin - Netherlands
Style - Thrash Metal

" Depression Tank marks the 20 year anniversary of Dead Head, a thrash band from Zwolle, The Netherlands that has been making thrash metal since its formation in 1989 "

" This fifth album does not suddenly introduce female vocals, keyboards, forced melodic downfalls or other misplaced ingredients into the sound of the band. Instead, it’s another raw, pure and energetic work of thrash. Dead Head plays good old thrash metal in the best Kreator, old Sadus and Slayer style, but have created from the beginning their own typical trademarks in their music. Very aggressive vocals, lots of melody and solo’s in their songs and also brilliant slower technical parts to give this kind of thrash the dynamic and power it needs to have"

Depressive Tank is no less than a murderous package of truly aggressive, adrenaline-pumped up and intense thrash metal !

" Fondlecorpse is back!.New album of crushing old-school sounding death metal"

" This quartet of bloodthirsty gremlins play a sort of bastardized thrash-death hybrid...But the old-school influence is overwhelming..And b- schlock horror movies is where its at lyrically. The vocals are monstrous and inteligible at the same time.
Guitar wise..the tracks are catchy and heavy as fuck "

20. Legion Of The Damned

Origin - Netherlands
Style - Thrash Metal

" So Here it is the 4th full length from the dutch thrashers "

" Tracks 12-20 are live tracks...."

" This band is being hyped as the next big thing !........I am not sure about that, But they do make some god-damn catchy thrash metal....What to expect? Well, nothing new, really, just better than the last stuff they did. On Cult Of The Dead you will find a load of extremely fast parts that have been put together as tight as hell "

" The raw edges of thrash metal are still present in the sound. The guitars do not slide but they tear. This album is recorded in just three weeks, thus this product may be considered an achievement of great order.....Catchy rhythms and typical pounding thrash parts make this album addictive. But that is not the only reason; the songs consist of multiple layers. Every turn, new facts and items appear, underlining the fact these guys are craftsmen. Considering this, it is not that this is a tame album. It is as brutal as the previous albums, but the songs are slightly more complicated and sophisticated "

Not a perfect album by any sense of the word......But it will keep the thrashers out there happy !

Pestilence - Spheres (1993)

1. Mind Reflections
2. Mulitple Beings
3. Level of Perception
4. Aurian Eyes
5. Soul Search
6. Personal Energy
7. Voices from Within
8. Spheres
9. Changing Perspectives
10. Phileas
11. Demise of Time

Origin - Netherlands
Style - Progressive Thrash Metal

" There are no keyboards on this album." So was stated by the band Pestilence on their 1993 album Spheres. The reason that I bring up the quote above, is because the Dutch act on this album sort of took the road that Iron Maiden did a few years prior, which is utilize extensive use of guitar synthesizers in their music, rather than actual keyboards, which for better or worse, totally changed their sound. Prior Pestilence releases took the influences of the Florida death metal scene and bands like Obituary, Death, Morbid Angel, and Death, added in some technical guitar work and progressive attitude, and came up with their own signature sound. With Spheres, the band one-upped the technical aspect, but also decided to inject even more prog and jazz into their sound, and used Roland guitar synthesizers to help out, quite a bit actually. This album here is less brutal than previous releases, relying less on crushing riffs and more on subtle jazzy embellishments. Tunes like "Changing Perspectives", "Personal Energy", "Multiple Beings", and the title track, all contain that familiar aggression "

" This is still a metal album, with Mameli's vocals still in that Death/Obituary type of growl, and the crashing, technical drum work of Marco Foddis (who also wrote all the bands lyrics). It just was a real 'about face' for the band. For the time, this album might have been a tad too odd and different, as metal bands in 1993, especially death metal bands, hadn't yet started to delve too far into prog rock territory, and this beast called Spheres certainly dove into prog, as well as jazz-fusion and ambient styles. With a constant wave of guitar synths, less brutal riffs, and relentless time & meter changes, the music here is quite sophisticated..."

Looking back, most fans now have 'gotten it' many years later, and see Spheres for the classic that it is......

8. Forever To Burn
9. Your Blood Is Mine
10. Rest In Flames (Bonus Track)
11. Pray For Nothing (Bonus Track)
12. Perverse Suffering [Cannibal Corpse cover]

Origin - Netherlands

Style - Brutal Death Metal

" I respect Severe Torture because they come straight out and say "This is the kind of music we like, the kind we've always liked, and the kind we'll always play. We love Cannibal Corpse, and they inspire us greatly. If you don't like it, we don't care." Misanthropic Carnage continues the blazing guttural death tradition w/ no compromise whatsoever. Hardly Cannibal Clones, they take basic concepts from Tomb of the Mutilated and The Bleeding and build on that w/ excellent death grooves and notey as hell guitar lines that break out the air tremlo every time "

" Misanthropic Carnage is as solid and almost as tight as it gets for speedy pit inducing death metal. Quality no-holds-barred death metal worth the money for hard-headed death & brutal death fiends "

Dead Head - Kill Division (1999)

1. Kill Division
2. Cold Being
3. Waste of Skin
4. Six
5. Mahler
6. Sprayed Into Oblivion
7. Wings on Fire
8. Where Silence Dwells
9. The Hustler
10. Until the Sun Appears
11. Souls of Ice
12. Heavy Metal Thunder (Saxon cover)

Origin - Netherlands
Style - Thrash Metal

" Holland quartet Dead Head developed near the tail end of the big original movement in 1989, releasing a series of demos and three albums over the course of the next 10 years. "Kill Division" would be their third release in 1999 "

" Dead Head prefer the super sonic melt your face off approach to thrash- the one that makes fingers bleed on guitar strings and drum heads, as well as insuring buckets of sweat and possible limb damage from the crowd. Reference points would include Sadus, Kreator and early Dark Angel- with bassist Tom Van Dijk doubling on the vocals with a razor gurgling affinity for Mille in tracks like "Cold Being", "Sprayed Into Oblivion" and "Wings On Fire"

" It’s a shame this act isn’t considered in the same breath as the aforementioned groups, because they certainly have the ability, talent and songwriting skills to be in the upper speed death/thrash echelon.....Lost But Not Forgotten !

Killer !.......Thrash !
