Origin - Sweden

" Formed in 1991...Obscure Infinity from Mariestad,Sweden made Death Metal in the vein of early Gorefest.....This is their second demo released with only a logo as artwork "

" Another of the lost gems of Swedish Death Metal.....Recorded at Gorysound studios with Dan Swano at the helm. A little noisy beacause of the old cassette....But you will get the picture when the music kicks in "

Too bad these guys never stuck around to put out a full length...Members later formed Wolfpack then Wolfbrigade.......Tormentor gets this one !

11. Artefacted/Spit forth
12. Saneless Theory (live)

13. Deadfall (live)

Origin - United Kingdom
Style - Death Metal

" The 3rd full-length from the mighty Benediction "

" Benediction's finest hour is entitled "Transcend the Rubicon", period. There's only killer songs to be found on this magnificent album. There's fast stuff like "Unfound mortality", "Nightfear" (still a fan's favorite!), "Paradox alley", "Violation domain", "Bleakhouse" or "Blood from stone" to be found, as well as mid-paced smashers like the groovy "I bow to none", "Painted skulls" or "Face without soul""

" The 2 extra songs are a cool studio jam of The Accused song "Wrong side of the graves (guest vocals by Jan-Chris de Koeijer, Karl Willets and Macka), and a brutal medley of "Artefacted irreligion"and "Spit forth the dead". Whereas many death metal bands nowadays don't manage to give each individual song it's unique hooks and marks, "Transcend the Rubicon" is filled with unique songs "

" Benediction are as purist and stripped down as Death Metal can possibly be, and Transcend the Rubicon is the perfect example: no pompous keyboards, no sappy pseudo-romantic female vocals, no pretentious pseudo-epic song structures – just raw guttural vocals, simple yet very effective drum patterns, and razor-sharp guitar riffs. In other words, old-school Death Metal down your throat!...."

Classic stuff here folks !.......Dont miss it !

And by the way: One of Seagraves finest album covers too !

" Osculum Obscenum is Hypocrisy's second album, released in 1993. The cover artwork was created by Wes Benscoter. Osculum Obscenum was re-released in 1996 as a digipak with bonus tracks....That is this version "

" Alot of fans out there don't realize that when Hypocrisy first started they were a Death Metal Band...Not the more Melodic side we now know. Nope..This was evil, harsh, bass heavy, crushing Death Metal with a tinge of Blackness"

" Peter was for sure influenced by the American scene..And on this record you can tell. Plenty of Deicide worship to go along with the Scandinavian sound.Heavy downtuned guitars...Ripping drums and ghastly vocals from one Magnus "Masse" Bromberg (Dark Funeral,Demonoid)"

In a year that produced some of the finest Death Metal records ever...Demilich(Nespithe),Morbid Angel(Covenant),Gorguts(The erosion of sanity).....This album stands proudly among these other historic Lps !

Morgue - Eroded Thoughts (1993)

1. Coroner's Report
2. Random Decay
3. Repulsive Death
4. Plagued Birth
5. Severe Psychopathology
6. Personality Conflict
7. Eroded Thoughts

Origin - USA
Style - Death Metal

" One and only album from (Plainfield/Joliet/Chicago, Illinois) Deathsters Morgue "

" Morgue issued this album in 1993 on Grind Core records and then proceeded to disappear...On this record Morgue played Death Metal in the Technical U.S. Metal vein...Taking influences from Pestilence,Cianide,Death Etc. "

" The guitar riffs are very thrashy and technical in the early 90s tradition. Excellent lead work and rhythms punctuate the entire album. The middle section of 'Plagued Birth' is just killer. The vocalist is exceptionally brutal with a hoarse raspy Martin Van Drunen sounding growl. 'Severe Psychopathology' and 'Plagued Birth' are two of the stand out tracks, although all 7 are excellent. "

Highly Reccommended for fans of Pestilence, early Gorguts,Oppressor,Death Etc.....

Victims of Internal Decay - Victims of Internal Decay (1993)

1. Absolute Worship
2. Bathed in Sickness
3. Bleed
4. One More Stitch (Green River cover)
5. Jim's Lament
6. Consummation
7. Under the Sun (Black Sabbath cover)
8. In Extremis
9. False Hate
10. Sterile Nature

Origin - USA
Style - Death Metal

" Here is an interesting remnant of old...V.O.I.D. formed in 1988 in oregon...Not exactly a hotbed for Death Metal...This is their debut self titled album "

" Void used many styles and were influenced by many different bands such as Voivid,Napalm Death,Celtic Frost....One could say that this album has bits of Grind,Doom,Death,Thrash metal all in one package. The aural assault begins with "Absolute Worship," a track with growling vocals and rhythms that range from double-bass attack to slow-mosh breakdowns to grinding moments to thrashing moments to slow (almost doom-like) reflections. Vocally: A twin attack..Very grind like in the sense of almost a battle between the vocalists "

The record was produced by a grunge dude..So the production is not that great..However this is a unique record..By a very unique band...

Considered a forgotten gem by many.....

Belial - Never Again (1993)

03. Dragons Kiss/Swan Song
04. As Above So Below
05. The Sun
06. About Love
07. Pain-Flood
08. Clouds
09. Desires
10. On You

Origin - Finland
Style - Black/Death Metal

" Featuring members of Impaled Nazarene...Belial was aroung in the ealy 90s when Finland had some of the best Death Metal bands on earth "

" Never Again was the bands debut..And on this Lp they played a brand of black and death metal, spicing it up with some tiny elements from NWOBHM. This was also the only album of this style as they would go on in a different direction later "

" The eerie and evil atmosphere that dominated the songs throughout the Never Again album, was one of Belial´s trademarks...They also used keyboards in their sound...only for creating a more crushing atmosphere behind their hell of catchy black/death metal assaults. Vocally: Satanic yelling would be the order of the day..and worked well "

This record is hard to come by....Hopefully iy will be re-issued at some point.
But for now...Enjoy a rotten piece of the early Finnish scene !

" Electrocution formed in 1990 in (Bologna, Emilia-Romagna) Italy....Later split up in 1996 after 3-Demo's,2-Ep's,1-split and this their only full length "

" Electrocution is one of many hardly known quality bands outside of their homeland...But anyone that did hear them knew this album was a lost gem !
The band's superlative songwriting skills shine in every track and keep you interested throughout the entire 37 minutes "

" More of a Death/Thrash album to me...Highly technical and strong song writing make this album fly by before you know it...Then press play again. A clear heavy production from the era makes for a great listening experience. One of Italy's finest bands....Its a shame these guys didnt make anymore tha they did.."

Brutality - Screams Of Anguish (1993)

1. These Walls Shall Be Your Grave
2. Ceremonial Unearthing
3. Sympathy
4. Septicemic Plague
5. Crushed
6. Spirit World
7. Exposed to the Elements
8. Cries of the Forsaken
9. Cryptorium
10. Spawned Illusion
11. Sadistic - Bonus Track

Origin - USA
Style - Death Metal

" Brutality was part of the famous Floridian Death Metal Scene...Formed in 1986 and split up and reformed a few times "

" This album is one of the many classic, yet unknown albums of the stream of early 90's death metal and it is one that absolutely deserves to be known. There are many things that can be said about it but the best thing to call it is a 100%, scary, evil, pulverizing, apocalyptic, devastating, earth-rumbling, heavy, brutal death metal masterpiece but with other awesome elements making it the masterpiece that it is. "

" First, you have death metal songs that almost create the feeling of almost being caught up in Armageddon !.... because everything sounds so catastrophic, eerie and doomy but the songs also have solos..Badass twin guitars, melodies, awesome technicality as well as the incredible death metal musicianship which puts this band up there along with the other elite bands of death metal "

I could listen to 'Cries Of The Forsaken' all day long...A truly classic track in every sense of the word....As is this magnificent album !

One of my all-Time favorite Death Metal albums from the U.S.....

People: If you have not heard this...Get It!.....And then buy the re-issued version...It is so worth it !

Sororicide/Chorus Of Ruin - Split (1993)

1. In Your Empty Eyes
2. Godlike
3. In This Church
4. Last Dance

Tracks 1-2 Sororicide
Tracks 3-4 Chorus Of Ruin

Origin - Iceland/United Kingdom
Style - Death Metal/Melodic Doom/Death Metal

" Killer split on 'Rising Realm' Records circa 1993 "

" Chorus Of Ruin was a British doom/Death metal band that originated from the Bradford area. They recorded a demo tape called "Les Miserables" in 1991, the same year the band was formed. A couple of more releases followed until the band broke up in 1996. The two tracks here are Doomy/Gothic sounding with spoken and growled vocals "

" The Sororicide tracks are what were here for.....Awesome Death Metal from the Icelandic crew....I think what these guys had going was a true atmosphere in their music like no other at the time. Heavy Riffing and bizarre melodies make this band truly unique and one of my all timers "

This is worth it for the Sororicide tracks alone !

Style - Death Metal

" One of Poland's under-rated bands here.....This is Armagedon's debut "

" Musically you have a Heavy Death Metal sound in the vein of other more popular Polish band's such as Vader,Trauma etc. "

" This album is criminally over-looked..Probably because it was supposed to be released on cd by Peaceville Records..But actually was only released on Cassette only...So not heard by many fans outside of poland. Skip to 2009 and Armagedon will release a new LP this year...Hopefully soon...I look forward to hearing it "

" Necrony was a Swedish death metal band formed by Rikard Alriksson and Anders Jakobsson. Later on the two formed a side project called Nasum which came to be so much more than a side project and therefore Necrony was later on laid to rest "

" Necrony used the classic Gore/Death/Grind style of General Surgery mixed with some early Carcass worship. There are some blasting moments, heavier more bizarre sounding riffs as well as punching Death metal beats. A few melodic tremolo Death metal riffs à la old Hypocrisy are in here as well "

Necrophobic - The Nocturnal Silence (1993)

1. Awakening...
2. Before the Dawn
3. Unholy Prophecies
4. The Nocturnal Silence
5. Inborn Evil
6. The Ancients Gate
7. Sacrificial Rites
8. Father of Creation
9. Where Sinners Burn

Origin - Sweden
Style - Death Metal

" Recorded at Sunlight Studios with Tomas Skogsberg handling the production duties..This was Necrophobics Debut album "

" This record did not sound like all the other Entombed clones... even though it was recorded in the same studio with the same producer. This one had more mid range melodies...Such as Dissection or Unanimated "

" Necrophobic actually came up with their own style of dark and occult death metal. Where most other bands concentrated on corpses, death, mutilations and other related topics Necrophobic in the contrary concentrated more on the darker side of life. This resulting in an album which still sounded typical Swedish though definitely with an own touch. The music was brutal but at the same time melodic and the atmosphere was much more sinister, mystical and dark than most other death metal bands around...Even using keys to enhance the evil feeling "

One of the best blackened Death Metal albums of all time !

Supuration - The Cube (1993)

1. Prelude
2. The Elevation
3. Soul's Speculum
4. 138.JP.08
5. The Cube
6. Through the Transparent Partitions
7. Spherical Inner-Sides
8. The Accomplishment
9. 4TX.31B
10. The Dim Light

Origin - France
Style - Death/Doom Metal

" Supuration was founded in 1990 and in that same year they released their first demo. Three more singles/EP's followed before the band released their brilliant "The cube" album in 1993. "The cube" is as said death metal but actually this description isn't covering the band's unique sound very well. The songs are indeed based on death metal but Supuration had put a lot of work in coming up with brilliant and unique leadguitar playing and string-picking and because of this Supuration can be recognized out of thousands "

" Also the vocals are based upon death metal with their deep tone but Ludovic also has fantastic clean vocals besides a great deathly voice (one of the better growls in death metal) and this combination of both clean vocals and low growls still wasn't common in death metal in 1993. So in many ways the band was far ahead of their time already with this album. All ten songs on "The cube" are extremely great and never get boring at all and because of the unique playing these songs can't be compared to other bands at all. Unfortunately most people are not even aware of this great band so I really advice everyone to check this fantastic band out....."

Loudblast - Sublime Dementia (1993)

1. Presumption
2. Wisdom... (Farther On)
3. Turn the Scales
4. About Solitude
5. Subject to Spirit
6. Fire and Ice
7. In Perpetual Motion
8. Fancies
9. Sublime Dementia
10. My Last Journey

Origin - France
Style - Death Metal

" This is loudblast's 3rd release....And an underground classic it is ! "

" Sublime Dementia saw the band delve more into Death Metal than before and put out 9 tracks of heavy, hypnotic and atmospheric death metal.....I say 9 cause...one track has a female soprano singer that sounds sort of cheesy..But none the less this album is crushing ! "

" The aggressiveness of the album is not so much the speed, but the weight of the songs.... The riffs are dark and mid-tempo mostly . And then, we can not forget about drummer, Hervé Coquerel, who controls his drums to perfection and is remarkable in his precision. He does not abuse the double bass and is adept at putting fills where they are needed. The voice of Stéphane Buriez is no stranger either to the sense through which we listen to this album. It is deep and seems straight out of a place we would not visit. And when he decided to try a clear, monotone voice, as it is in the first Supuration album, it drives the point home a little more, creating a real uneasiness in listening "

Sublime Dementia is an album of sublime(Puns a plenty) French Death Metal and should really be discovered by all death metal fans of the Early 90s....
